Sam Stromberg

Sam is a recent graduate of the Master’s of Information Management and Systems program at the University of California, Berkeley. Prior to graduate school, he worked in the healthcare policy space as an analyst and project manager, evaluating aspects of programs like Medicare Part D, TRICARE, and Affordable Care Act insurance marketplaces.

Sam looks forward to a role that will leverage his domain knowledge, quantitative background, and academic training in public service. Sam grew up in Denver, CO, attended Pomona College as an undergraduate, where he double-majored in Mathematics and History, and spent a year in Hong Kong with the Fulbright Student Program as an English Teaching Assistant. He currently resides in Oakland, CA with his partner and dogs and enjoys hiking in the hills, trivia competitions, and board games.

What Inspired You To Join The U.S. Digital Corps?

"I think it's crucial to bring these types of technical roles in-house to ensure that efforts to modernize and improve usability of public services are ongoing and iterative. I feel privileged to be part of the second cohort of USDC Fellows operationalizing that goal."

Fun Fact:

Although Sam writes with his left hand, he didn't recognize until adulthood that he's not really left-handed — in elementary school, he was allowed to choose a preferred hand, and he was stubborn enough to stick with his choice. Softball, golf, and racquet sports went from impossible to enjoyable once Sam let his guard down and did what came more naturally.
